Daily Pin Feature May.31,2013

Today's feature pin is Phineas and Ferb logo pin. This pin was released in 2008. I also managed to find this one trading in Walt Disney World. For the longest time, I did not watch Phineas and Ferb. My wife always watched the show and told me how good it was. Eventually I gave it a chance and loved it, so as soon as I saw this pin, I had to have it!

Today's feature pin is Mo (Microbe Obliterator) from Wall-E. This pin was released in 2008, in a set with Wall-E and Eve. My father in law actually traded for this pin originally and decided later he did not want it, so I knew I had to trade for it!

Do’s and Don’ts of Pin Trading

Before embarking on Pin Trading, it is important to know the Disney Pin Trading etiquette. Below I will list the set of rules Disney has set out on Pin Trading:

  • What is considered a trade-able pin is that it is a cloisonné, semi cloisonné, or a hard-enamel metal Disney pin, or one that is an accepted operating participant pin(it would represent a specific Disney event, place or location, character or icon).
  • Only an operating participant pin that shows a Disney, Disneyland® Resort, or Walt Disney World® Resort affiliation will be accepted.
  • Pins from other businesses of the Walt Disney Company®, such as ESPN, ABC and etc will be accepted.
  • Disney service pins, spirit of Disneyland® resort pins and Disney language pins will not be accepted for trading.
  • Counterfeit pins and lower quality pins (e.g., plastic pins, rubber pins, other non metal pins, epoxy-coated pins, etc.)will not be accepted for trading.
  • If there is any doubt the pin is trad-able, consistent to these rules, the trading cast member will have the final say.
  • Pins should be in good, undamaged, trad-able condition.
  • Trade one pin at a time, hand to hand.
  • Pin backers must be securely fastened at time of trade.
  • Touching another persons’ lanyard is frowned upon. If you need a closer look, ask the person wearing the lanyard for a closer look.
  • Certain pin sets must be traded as a set. If a single pin from the set does not complete the intended picture or statement alone (i.e., carded pin sets) all pins in the set must be traded in one.
  • “Name pins” may not be traded with cast members. This includes Disney name pins.
  • When trading with a cast member, a pin not already displayed on the lanyard should be offered to the cast member.
  • Monies or gifts may not be used in the trading of a pin(s).
  • Only one pin of the same style may be traded with the cast member.

Other helpful hints and reminders, green lanyards or pin pouches are just for children. You are only allowed to trade two pins with one cast member. But the biggest thing to remember, is just have loads of fun trading.

Disney Pin Trading, I’m Hooked!

In January 2012, I took my first trip to Walt Disney World® in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. I had no idea what was about to take over as the ultimate hobby in my life. Before going there in 2012 for my long awaited honey moon, my wife had told me stories about Disney World and the excitement of Pin Trading. I had done a little research on Pin Trading before I went on the vacation, and I had collected about 10 pins before embarking on a life changing journey.

Upon arriving at the hotel in Florida, I went into pin frenzy when I saw the grand selection at the Walt Disney World® resort. Overnight my small collection of 10 pins exploded into a collection of 100 pins. It was lanyard after lanyard, trading with the Disney World Cast Members, I was hooked! Nothing would slow me down, and after spending roughly $1000 on Disney Pins, there was no stopping me at building my ultimate collection.

But the trip had to come to an end, I had successfully traded my pins. It was a long 2012, and the hunger for the thrill of Pin Trading grew and grew. I turned to Ebay and purchased a bigger collection to prepare for my next trip there. Sure enough,  we booked another trip to the magical Disney World for January 2013. This time I was ready and amassed 200 pins for trading this time, only this time my wife’s parents were coming along(and her dad being as big of a pin nut as myself), thus The Pin Boys was created. We made our way through the world trading with everyone we could find, only to be hungry for more.

Now I wait, I await my return to Disney World to trade more pins, I made this blog so other people interested in Pin Trading can read of my experiences and my pin collection. I now sit with a collection of 439 pins and growing. I intend to share my experiences and love of Disney Pin Trading with people.  Feel free to share your experiences with me as well.
